Background. The article attempts to match some peculiarities of young poets’ works and values of the youth subculture. The previous research has proved that many young writers of the present time share subcultural values of early and contemporary youth subcultures (hippies, Tolkien’s fans, role-players etc.) and display them in their works. The city theme is an important element of the subcultural discourse. Consequently, it is necessary to research the interaction between the subcul-tural and individual creative work as a well-spread phenomenon of modern culture and literature, including the given topic.
Materials and methods. The authors defined types of connection of the poet’s world outlook, system of images with certain constituents of the youth culture highlighting the evolution of the city theme. The complex approach to text analysis was been applied and three collections of Polozkova’s works were studied (“Nepoemanie”, “Photosynthesis” and “Ostocherchenie”).
Results. The analysis of Vera Polozkova’s collections has made it possible to distinguish a number of common tendencies in creative works of subcultures’ representatives and leaders of the youth literature mainstream.
Conclusions. The city theme is one of the fundamental elements of the youth subculture’s world outlook. Vera Polozkova can be fairly considered to be an urban poet. Her lyrics reflect among other things a strong subcultural tendency of perception of urban space, which is displayed in a variety of images and motives.
